MBI is leading investigation of body found in Moss Point
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is in Moss Point to lead an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found Thursday morning.
Residents of the neighborhood at the cross streets of Magnolia Street and Howze Avenue called WXXV to report a body had been found.
The body is believed to be that of a man who fled from a traffic stop on Friday night. His family reported him missing today, prompting police to launch a search that resulted in finding a body mid-morning.
Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd confirmed that a body has been found in the back yard of a home in Moss Point, but police were waiting for MBI to arrive before the investigation continued.
The man’s identity has not been released.
MBI was brought in to lead the investigation because a man fled the traffic stop on Friday before he disappeared.
WXXV’s Sabria Reid spoke with Police Chief Brandon Ashley and will have more live at 5 p.m.
