Moss Point police investigating New Year’s Day shooting

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)- Moss Point police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday morning.

Authorities in Moss Point were on scene of a shooting that took place New Year’s Day on River Pine Drive.

Police confirm they received a call about gunshots at around 8 a.m. and 47-year-old Joseph Whitt was reportedly the victim.

He was at his residence found on the floor, dead from a gunshot wound.

Officers remained on scene gathering evidence and conducting interviews. As of now, Moss Point police are not releasing further details at this time.
