Moss Point Police Chief suspended for five days

MOSS POINT, Miss. (WXXV)-Moss Point city leaders are temporarily suspending Police Chief Brandon Ashley.

The suspension comes at the request of Mayor Billy Knight. Chief Ashley is suspended for five days.

The reason for suspension has not been released, officials say it is considered a personnel matter.

WXXV reached out to Mayor Billy Knight. Mayor Knight said in a statement: “As mayor of the City of Moss Point, I recommended to our city Board of Aldermen a five-day suspension, effective August 6, to Chief Brandon Ashley. The board approved and as a city policy, we have no further comment on personnel matters.”
