Moss Point mayor addresses speeding and illegal trash dumping
Moss Point Mayor Billy Knight took to social media recently to discuss two issues currently impacting the River City.
In a River City Chat posted to the city’s Facebook page, Mayor Knight addressed recent concerns from residents over speeding and illegal trash dumping.
In the video, he says people have complained of teenagers excessively speeding on local roads across the city, but especially in the area of Community and Hubert streets.
The mayor is now urging parents to talk to their teenagers about responsible driving and says the city is looking into enhanced police patrols and more stop signs in certain areas.
On the topic of dumping, Knight says it has become an issue as of late, despite dumpsters being placed by city works crews in certain areas.
Furniture and mattresses have even piled up alongside the dumpsters. Mayor Knight said, “If you see somebody dumping like that, get that car tag, get that truck tag, turn that into the police department. We’ve got to stop this dumping. We’ve got to have more pride about our city.”
Mayor Knight ended his remarks by urging River City residents to continue to be mindful of these issues moving forward.
