Moss Point man to serve 35 years for trafficking meth

A Moss Point man will spend 35 years in prison for aggravated drug trafficking.

District Attorney W. Crosby Parker said 37-year-old Regio Darrell Lavant of Moss Point was sentenced Tuesday after his conviction on March 1 to aggravated drug trafficking of methamphetamine. He will serve the 35 years without chance of early release or parole.

On October 27, 2019, a Harrison County deputy conducted a traffic stop in Pass Christian for careless driving on Interstate 10.

When the deputy approached the vehicle, he smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle. Lavant was arrested after the deputy found nearly a kilogram of meth in Lavant’s backpack.

Witness testimony at trial revealed that Lavant had traveled to Houston, Texas and picked up the drugs.
