A Moss Point will spend more than 17 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking case.

Labaron Mitchell, 38, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Gulfport to 211 months, or 17 years.

He will serve that sentence after he is released from state custody, where he currently is serving a three-year sentence for a Jackson County conviction on possession of a controlled substance, which means he has 20 years behind bars to serve.

According to information at court, officers bought more than 280 grams of meth and 2.7 grams of crack from Mitchell and a co-conspirator between July 2021 and January 2022.

Mitchell pleaded guilty in May to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute meth.  His co-conspirator also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
