A Moss Point man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of a man on Sunday morning.

Police Chief Brandon Ashley said 31-year-old Douglas Bowens Jr. was arrested and taken to the Jackson County jail. He is being held without bond.

Police say a 911 call was made just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday about a man being shot in the 4800 block of Diamond Street in Moss Point. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Lorenzo Walley Jr. of Moss Point.

Witness said the suspect was seen entering a residence across the street from where the victim was shot, while others saw him leave that residence and head into a wooded area behind that house.

Moss Point officers and law enforcement from the surrounding area set up a perimeter and began searching the area.

Bowens appeared at a neighbor’s house and was taken into custody.
