Moss Point man arrested in possession of drugs and handgun

On Monday, December 30, 2019, at approximately 8:00pm, officers of the Moss Point Police Department were investigating a large crowd gathering in front of a local convenience store. During their investigation they encountered Clarence Shelton, 37, of Moss Point. Shelton was found to be in possession of marijuana, methamphetamine, more than 100 tablets of Ecstasy, and a loaded handgun. He was arrested and turned over to the South Mississippi Metro Enforcement Team.
Shelton had previously been arrested by Moss Point Police on December 3, 2019 for felony drug charges also involving methamphetamine and marijuana. In that case he was booked in to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, but later bonded out.
Due to the felony charges stemming from Monday night’s arrest his prior bond was revoked and he is being held at the ADC pending trial.
