Moss Point Fire Department teams up with Red Cross for relief efforts

Disaster relief provided by the American Red Cross was available in Moss Point today.

Prepared to bring relief to over 500 Moss Point residents, the American Red Cross and Moss Point Fire Department partnered up at City Hall for a drive-thru supply give away.

A truck load of cases of water, storm clean up kits, including brooms and mops, multi-purpose tarps, hot meals, and non-perishable food items were given to anyone in need.

Major flooding in Moss Point’s ward 2 caused by Hurricane Ida led to the need for more relief in the community. American Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle Operator Michael Hill said, “Darius Wilson, the alderman for ward 2, got a hold of us and asked if we could help out. So, we sent three vehicles out here yesterday and found out the need was a lot more than those three vehicles would cover. So, today, we’re back and we’re supplying a box truck full of supplies and we’ve got more if we need to, but we want to do everything we can to support this community.”
