Moss Point Fire Chief Danny Wade submitted his letter of retirement to the Moss Point Board of Aldermen during a special call meeting on Thursday night.

Wade, who was named fire chief in November 2022, submitted the letter after the city added an agenda item to the meeting to discuss a personnel matter, according to City Attorney Amy St. Pe’. The board did not discuss any other matters once the letter of retirement was accepted.

His retirement is effective today, March 1.

According to news reports, Wade had been put on leave because of a personnel matter.

Battalion Chief Henry Goff is serving as the interim chief. Goff, as the most senior member of the fire department, was asked to step into the interim position per civil service policy.

St. Pe’ said a job posting for fire chief would probably be posted later today on the city’s website.
