Moss Point family recalls going through the tornado

A house behind M&M Bank in Moss Point sits in ruins, the tornado’s wrath evident as the roof was ripped off and walls torn down.

Looking at the rubble, it is astounding to think a family of three was inside when the tornado struck. Claude Adams and his son were asleep when the storm arrived.

Miraculously, his wife woke them just moments before their roof started peeling off. Together, they rushed to find shelter, seeking refuge in their bathroom.

Just as suddenly as it had arrived, the tornado passed.

Claude Adams considers it nothing short of a miracle that he and his family survived. “The sound, all of the glass breaking. The trees popping. The debris going everywhere, all the loud booms. It’s a nightmare. I haven’t been sleeping well.”

The Adams family is currently staying with relatives in the area as they begin to pick up the pieces and rebuild their shattered lives.
