Moss Point family loses home in early morning fire

A Moss Point family lost their home Monday morning after a fire broke out.

Moss Point Fire Chief Jason Davis said firefighters got the call about 6 am to a house on Ferry Street.

There was a car in the driveway, so they did a search of the home to make sure no one was inside, then starting battling the fire, which originated in the living room.

Davis said there was no one inside, although there were three adults and two school-aged children living there.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in about 15 minutes, but the house is considered a total loss because of the amount of smoke and water damage.

Red Cross is assisting the family with other accommodations.

The cause is under investigation.
