Moss Point Determines Bus Driver Did Not Use Racial Slurs

The Moss Point School District has completed its investigation into startling allegations that one of its white bus drivers shouted racial slurs to black elementary school students.

Parents of children who ride the bus say their kids have been complaining about the situation all semester, but with no results from the school district. They called on the Jackson County chapter of the N.A.A.C.P. for help. They spoke with News 25 on Tuesday, saying they wanted to bus driver permanently removed if the allegations proved to be true.

The district issued this statement in response Friday: "The recent allegation of a Moss Point School District bus driver using racial slurs was thoroughly investigated by the district. The parents who listened to the audio recording along with the school district officials both agreed that racial slurs were not used."

In response, N.A.A.C.P. President, Curley Clark, feels its goal was reached since the bus driver was removed from the situation until a conclusion was reached.
