Moss Point Crime Stoppers tips increase in 2018
This year, the violence surrounding the City of Moss Point has made headlines, but the community’s involvement in trying to solve these crimes has seen an increase.
Lori Massey, the coordinator of Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers, tells News 25 that in 2018 the City of Moss Point has already surpassed the number of tips shared with Crime Stoppers during the entire twelve months of 2017.
Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that prevent community involvement: fear and apathy. “The people are tired. The people are talking. You know, we haven’t seen anything like this in a community, in a city, the increase of tips like this. They want to live in a safe community,” said Massey.
Callers can remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest or grand jury indictment of a felony offender.
