Moss Point alum Devin Booker reflects on NBA Finals experience
From last year’s Bubble Booker to this year’s NBA Finals Devin Booker, the Moss Point alum finishes his amazing post-season run with the Phoenix Suns just two wins away from winning it all.
But the Greek Freak and the Milwaukee Bucks were not to be denied, becoming just the third championship team in NBA history to win four straight finals games after being down in the series 0-2.
Booker didn’t have his best stuff in Tuesday’s 105-98 game six loss, scoring just 19 points, after back-to-back 40-point games, compared to Giannis Antetokounmpo and his closeout 50-piece.
Outside of a 10-point showing in game three, Booker was downright phenomenal across his 22 playoff showings, averaging more than 27 points per game.
If only the former Tiger was into the idea of silver linings. “This isn’t something you want to feel. I haven’t felt a hurt like this in my life, so that’s what I say when we have a base and a foundation, just championship basketball at all times. And there’s no moral winners in our locker room saying we won the Western Conference Finals or whatever it is. We’ll look back 50 years from now and be able to make those calls. We wanted to win a championship.”
This was the Suns first NBA Finals appearance since 1993.
