More than 30 arrested in major Harrison County drug operation
More than 30 people are behind bars in Harrison County following a recent narcotics operation (WXXV)
HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)–More than 30 people have been arrested at the conclusion of a three-day operation targeting drug trafficking and illegal currency movement in Harrison County.
The operation, called “Operation Gulf-Line,” was led by Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Harrison County Narcotics Task Force, Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Patrol and several other local and federal agencies.
Authorities said the operation focused on interstate drug trafficking along Interstate 10, illicit currency trafficking and mid-level drug distributors throughout Harrison County.
According to the sheriff’s office, the operation resulted in more than 30 arrests on charges including aggravated drug trafficking, felony fleeing, outstanding felony warrants and other related offenses.
The names of those arrested were not immediately released by the sheriff’s office.
Investigators reported seizing approximately:
- 10.5 pounds of methamphetamine
- 6.5 pounds of cocaine
- 21 pounds of marijuana
- 25 grams of fentanyl
- 140 grams of ecstasy/MDMA
- $82,000 in suspected illicit currency
- More than 10 firearms
The estimated street value of the drugs seized exceeded $500,000.
In a statement, Sheriff Matt Haley said the operation reflects continued cooperation between local and federal agencies working to combat drug trafficking and related crimes in Harrison County.
