More details emerge from Wednesday morning shooting in Moss Point
A fight between two groups of girls escalated into gunfire in Moss Point early Wednesday morning.
Moss Point Police Chief Brandon Ashley offered more details on the shooting, which resulted in two of the teens being shot.
Ashley said the girls gathered in a church parking lot on Davis Street and the confrontation became heated to the point that gunfire began.
Police recovered 41 spent shell casings.
Four vehicles tried to leave the area when they were stopped by police. The two wounded teens were inside the vehicles.
Police also found a firearm reported stolen in Hattiesburg and an AR-15 rifle, as well as 121 rounds of .22 caliber rifle ammunition.
Ashley said none of the teens — or adults involved — are from Moss Point.
He said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, but he anticipates charges as the investigation goes on.
