More aid needed for Moss Point
The City of Moss Point is still in desperate need of assistance and state and federal aid.
One Jackson County nonprofit organization is calling on officials to act faster with rising concerns over shelters.
Comeback Coolers out of Ocean Springs is a nonprofit organization that provides support and aid to those in need when disaster strikes.
The nonprofit provides food, drinks, and other necessities to those impacted by natural disasters, delivering them in coolers with words of encouragement written on them.
They delivered more than 24 coolers to Moss Point, but soon realized the much-needed help was far greater than they could provide.
Director of Operations Cathy Wildschuetz tells us what makes this tornado in Moss Point different from other disasters in the state. “What makes Moss Point different is the vulnerability of the people that live in Moss Point. So, there is not as much insurance as maybe some areas have. No one got killed here, but that doesn’t make it less. There are still people living in these homes and we really do need to help support them.”
