Mobile City Council to vote on Amtrak funding

A major vote to determine the future of Amtrak service here on the Gulf Coast is taking place in Mobile Tuesday.

That Mobile City Council meeting starts at 10:30 tomorrow morning. If council members give the green light for Amtrak funding the work will begin on passenger platforms across the proposed route including here in South Mississippi.

Amtrak leaders say they hope to have passenger service restored in time for Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, which is next February.
