MLK Prayer Breakfast
People of all ages gathered in Biloxi Saturday morning to discuss and celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Zeta Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity hosted a prayer breakfast honoring Dr. King at the Kroc Center.
Gulfport Chief Administrative Officer Dr. John Kelly served as guest speaker and talked about the importance of voting and community and family bonds.
Along with musical performances, attendees also had a chance to connect with each other and remember the legacy of Dr. King. Biloxi City Council Member Felix Gines said, “In the 60s we’ve come a long way. Blacks, minorities, they’ve come a long way in history and Dr. King’s dream is sort of being fulfilled today and we want to make sure that dream is kept alive.”
The hope is to continue the prayer breakfast as a yearly event.
