MLK Day at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center is typically closed on Mondays, but in honor of MLK Day the doors are open this afternoon in remembrance of Dr. King.
The discovery center’s regular programs and activities took place today, along with some special MLK additions like a Martin Luther King themed story time and the prayer wall.
At the wall, kids can learn about Dr. King’s beliefs and share some of their own ideas for spreading peace and love. Admission is $10 and the activities will wrap up at 5 p.m. Kathleen Buck with Lynn Meadows Discover Center said, “Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most prevalent, amazing people in our time from our country that had amazing ideas for peace. We’re doing a special art project in our art room with multiple colors to represent how everyone is different and if you use all the colors together it completes the picture. We’re all important. School is out and we’re open for anybody that wants to come play and share their own ideas for peace.”
In 2016, Lynn Meadows was awarded the National Medal of Museum and Library Service by first lady Michelle Obama for their community outreach and involvement.
