MLEOA Annual Training Conference

Law enforcement officers from all over our state, Louisiana, and Alabama are in D’Iberville this week putting their skills to the test while enjoying a little friendly competition.
It is part of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Association’s annual training conference. The conference addresses several training areas, including motorcycle training which is what the officers were practicing today. Exercises include police escorts, brake and escape, and officer survival.
This training gives officers an opportunity to hone in on basic skills, learn new ones, and trade information with other agencies all while building a sense of camaraderie. Deputy Clifton Brown with the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said, “In the eight years I’ve been coming here, it’s just the friendships that you make and the respect you earn between other agencies and watching the guys. I remember when some agencies first got their bikes and they’re the big front runners out here this week because they practice when they’re at home, they train and it just goes to show you that a little bit of training is going to get you a long way.”
The Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Association Training Conference concludes tomorrow with a friendly competition and awards for various feats such as fastest rider.
