MLB Great Visits MGM Park

After addressing the crowd at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum, Darryl Strawberry made his way to MGM Park.
Strawberry took the mound to throw out the first pitch at tonight’s Shuckers game before stopping to sign autographs and meet fans. Behind the plate was his former teammate and long-time friend Barry Lyons.
Strawberry tells News 25 that he is impressed with the growing presence of baseball in Biloxi and has enjoyed his visit so far. “It’s great. Minor league baseball is amazing. It’s great to have a stadium here. It helps families to come out to the ballpark and be able to see some of the younger players that are growing up and developing. Minor leagues are a part of every player that comes to play baseball. I played in Jackson, Mississippi. I know what the minor leagues are all about. I’m just glad to see that they finally got a minor league park here and got baseball here.”
Strawberry also shared the major key to home run power with News 25. “Keep your head down, don’t swing hard. Just make contact and it takes care of itself.”
