MLB games postponed due to COVID-19
Just five days into the 2020 Major League Baseball season, one team already experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.
According to reports, the Miami Marlins have 14 players and coaches that have tested positive for COVID-19 leading to the postponement of tonight’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Philadelphia Phillies have done the same thing for their game against the New York Yankees, having just played the Marlins three times to start the season.
Players are currently being tested once every other day and every team has a 30 member taxi squad ready to step in in case of an outbreak.
One local player affected by the situation is New York Yankees relief pitcher Jonathan Holder. The Gulfport and Mississippi State alum tells News 25 “We’re just following MLB protocol and we’re focused on being safe and healthy while resuming the season ASAP. Just waiting for MLB to tell us what’s next.”
Holder pitched an inning and a third scoreless on Saturday.
