Mississippi’s Tax-Free Weekend is Friday and Saturday

If you’re looking to save a little money on your back-to-school shopping, don’t forget this weekend is Mississippi’s Tax-Free event.

This Friday and Saturday, shoppers can buy necessities like clothes, shoes, and school supplies and not have to pay the state’s seven percent sales tax.

Items must be under $100 to be eligible. However, you can use coupons to reduce the price below $100 and still waive the sales tax.

Shoppers should keep in mind that items such as hand bags, jewelry, and electronics are not a part of the tax-free weekend. Gulfport Premium Outlets General Manager Pam Meinzinger said, “Tax free weekend is our, we love tax free weekend. It’s so much fun, and it’s exciting and everyone’s in a good mood. We’re gonna be open from 10-8 Friday and Saturday and throughout the shopping center, come and get great savings. It’s the perfect storm. You’ve got the end of the season; you’ve got tax-free and back-to-school sales at the same time. It’s the best time to shop of the whole year.”

Truly some exciting things happening this weekend, but that’s not all, the Gulfport Premium Outlets is proud to present ‘Do Good with Denim.’ ‘Do Good with Denim’ is Gulfport’s back to school denim drive to support sustainability and positively impact the community. This is a collaboration with Goodwill Industries of South Mississippi. “The donation drop boxes are gonna be at the crosswalks throughout the property and also guest services. Come to guest services to get your 10% coupon from Aeropostale and you can use that on your entire purchase anytime Saturday.”

You can contribute gently used or new denim apparel items. Jeans, jackets, shirts, skirts, and more will be gladly accepted and sent to Goodwill.
