Mississippi’s first direct-entry MSN receives approval

Mississippi State University received approval to admit the first students into a newly-created Master of Science in Nursing degree program at MSU-Meridian.
The program is Mississippi’s first direct-entry MSN that allows college graduates holding non-nursing degrees to enter the nursing profession and become candidates for Registered Nurse Licensure.
The program comes at a time when the health care industry in the Magnolia State follows a trend of increasing critical worker shortages.
The program would last for 12 months, it prepares students as generalists but will also demonstrate graduate competencies like leadership and professionalism.
