Mississippi woman makes it past the blind auditions on The Voice

You may have seen her on Miss America or getting crowned as Miss Mississippi in 2021, but now you will see her on NBC’s The Voice as one of the contestants.

Holly Brand has been singing since she was a little girl. She started out in a church singing gospel music. She always knew she wanted to become a singer, but she also knew she had to find herself as a person first.

Through the Miss America Pageant and graduating from the University of Alabama, Brand was able to figure out what she is passionate about and get comfortable in front of people which helped her feel confident during her Voice audition.

Brand sang ‘Mississippi Girl’ by Faith Hill and made three judges, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, and Niall Horan turn around. She chose Kelly Clarkson as her coach for the show. Brand said, “I wanted to sing Mississippi Girl was because I know the people in the state of Mississippi really equipped me and helped me have that confidence to go out and do this and I didn’t want to forget about that during one of the biggest moments of my life. Kinda like tip my hat to everybody back home and just everybody along the way that helped shaped me into the person and artist I am today. That support means so much to me.”

There are still two more weeks of blind audition episodes. The battle rounds air March 27th and Brand wants to keep her song choice a surprise.
