Mississippi Supreme Court denies motion for rehearing in Alberto Garcia case

The Mississippi Supreme Court has denied a motion for rehearing in the case of Alberto Garcia versus the state of Mississippi.

Garcia pled guilty and was convicted in the brutal killing of five-year-old Janaya Thompson in Gulfport in 2014. Garcia was sentenced to death row in January 2017.

The motion of rehearing was to vacate his death sentence, but was not accepted by the Mississippi Supreme Court.
