Mississippi State victimized by poor kicking
Mississippi State with a regrettable loss Saturday at Arkansas in which the Bulldogs missed all three of their field goal tries in a game decided by just three points.
It all came down to Nolan McCord to tie the game at the end of regulation, but his 40-yarder was never even close.
The freshman was only in that situation because Brandon Ruiz missed his first two tries from 23 and 46 yards.
Head Coach Mike Leach following the 31-28 defeat. “There’s an open tryout and you can announce this – there’s an open tryout on our campus for kickers. Anybody that wants to kick or walk on and kick at Mississippi State, we’ll hold a tryout any time you can get over to our building, providing you’re cleared by the NCAA.”
Bulldogs back on the road Saturday for an 11 a.m. kick at Auburn.
