Mississippi State punches ticket to Omaha; Ole Miss battles Arkansas for a spot today
Mississippi State upended Stanford in two games at a Super Regional in Starkville to move on to the College World Series, while Ole Miss split a pair of weekend games with Arkansas in Fayetteville, setting up today’s game for a chance to advance.
The Bulldogs defeated Stanford 6-2 on Saturday night and 8-1 on Sunday to advance.
Arkansas pummeled Ole Miss 11-2 on Saturday, while the Rebels returned the favor with a 13-5 shellacking on Sunday.
Ole Miss (41-25) and Arkansas (45-18) meet in a 3 p.m. game today, televised by ESPN2.
In other Super Regional action, LSU lost in two games at Alex Box Stadium to Florida State. The Tigers lost 6-4 on Saturday and 5-4 in 12 innings on Sunday night.
