Mississippi State Pro Day: 19 former Bulldogs aim to impress NFL scouts
The class of 2017 is one of the winningest groups to ever pass through Mississippi State. Today, 14 players from this year’s team got the chance to show NFL scouts they can win at the next level as well.
Overall, 19 former Bulldogs took part in this morning’s session with more than 30 NFL scouts from across 27 different teams in attendance.
After the weigh-in process, participants went through the drills, position workouts, and testing of their choosing. For example, Fred Ross only did the shuttle and ran routes after a solid performance earlier this month at the NFL combine.
He’ll be one of many MSU alums eagerly waiting to hear his name called on draft day.
Head Coach Dan Mullen said, “Every young kid has a dream of going up and playing and the opportunity to go play in the NFL. And these are guys that have worked hard throughout their career, worked hard and played hard for Mississippi State and been successful on the field. And here’s another day for them to come out and kind of show their skills, and have the opportunity to go live their dream.”
“I remember when I was coming out here watching Dak last year, watching Preston Smith and Benardrick. It’s just crazy because time goes by so fast and I mean today went by fast so it’s great to be out here with the team again. Just being able to compete with those guys one last time,” said Ross.
Ross says he’s got his first visit lined up next Wednesday with the New England Patriots.
