Mississippi State preaching effort ahead of LSU game
After coming back from 20 points down to beat Louisiana Tech by one point in the first week of the season, eventually, the law of averages was bound to bite the Bulldogs in another close game with the opposite result.
As fate would have it, it only took two weeks for that to happen in Saturday’s 31-29 heartbreaker at the hands of Memphis.
MSU blew a ten-point halftime lead, only to give up 21 unanswered points before coming within a two-point conversion of tying the game with less than two minutes to go.
Head Coach Mike Leach says his players left it all out on the field, they just didn’t leave it in the right place. “Oh, we have good effort. I mean we have good effort. It’s just dumb, erratic effort. We have pretty good effort, and I think that in spurts we had really good effort. You just have to keep bringing guys along. The quickest way is reps. The more reps they get, if you have a senior’s worth of reps, I mean that’s the key thing. The trouble is we don’t have a time machine, and so we need to manufacture them through the film and on the field the best we can.”
