Mississippi State football gets 49-23 revenge win over Memphis

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the house and revenge served cold in Stark Vegas, where Mississippi State delivered one of its finest air raid performances yet in a 49-23 clobbering of Memphis, who beat the Bulldogs 31-29 last season.

Will Rogers was one of just two Power Five quarterbacks to throw for five touchdowns in week one and his 450 yards was the second most in all of college football.

As a team, MSU outgained Memphis by more than 250 yards and 21 first downs.

D’Iberville alum Jaden Walley catching one of those five touchdowns, but Rogers still thinking more about those 11 incompletions. “Kind of ticked off about it to be honest. I mean I was just so sloppy when we came back out in the second half, and it was just sloppy on my half, so I have to do a better job and I need to be more accurate with some of my throws.”

Head Coach Mike Leach said, “I thought he really did a good job holding things together, and I thought he really did a good job seeing the field. Probably one of the best performances I think he’s had as far as seeing the field.”

Some Pac-12 after dark for Mississippi State in week two as the Bulldogs make the trip out to Tucson, Arizona for a 10 p.m. kick off on Saturday.
