Mississippi Sheriffs’ Association holds Bi-Annual Conference

The Mississippi Sheriffs’ Association is hosting its week long Bi-Annual Conference to end the year.

The conference held at the Golden Nugget Casino featured various speakers throughout the week.

Commissioner Sean Tindell spoke earlier in the week on the new changes happening within the Department of Public Safety.

The conference comes ahead of the legislative session beginning next year in preparation for newly proposed laws.

Representatives of the FBI also went over topics with the sheriffs of Mississippi counties.

Harrison County Sheriff Elect Matt Haley talks to us about his time at the conference so far as he prepares to take office. “You know, it’s time to connect with other sheriffs all over the state and see what’s going on in their country. See what they’re dealing with and we learn a lot. Get down here and you meet a lot of people to know, a lot more than what you do and it’s a good thing to try to take it all in and learn as much as you can while you’re here.”

Haley will officially be sworn in as sheriff on January 7th, 2024.
