Mississippi sees rise in reported COVID-19 cases
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 418 new cases of COVID-19 in the state and 17 new deaths.
The state total now stands at 14,790 cases and 710 deaths. Four of the deaths reported for May 28 were gleaned from state death certificates from May 11 to May 15.
None of the deaths reported were in the six South Mississippi counties.
Here’s an updated list of cases by county in our area:
- Hancock County has 87 cases and 11 deaths.
- Harrison County has 251 (4 new) cases and seven deaths.
- Stone County has 30 cases and no deaths.
- Jackson County has 302 cases and 13 deaths.
- Pearl River County has 207 (1 new) cases and 31 deaths.
Meanwhile, Hinds County still has the most cases in the state with 971.
