Mississippi Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday Starts this Weekend

Mississippi’s second amendment sales tax holiday will be in full effect over the weekend and it starts today.

Just in time to get equipped for several hunting seasons that are just around the corner.

In fact, the alligator hunting season starts today, and runs through September 9th.

Friday through Sunday the state’s sales tax is waived on firearms, ammunition, and hunting supplies, just to name a few.

Manager at Dad’s Super Pawn in Gulfport Jeff Mcgill tells News 25 that this is the busiest time of the year for the shop.

Take a look at the video for some of this weekend’s exempt items. As we mentioned, firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, firearm and archery accessories, hearing protection, holsters, belts, slings and more are tax free.

The second amendment sales tax holiday is Friday through Sunday September 1st. All eligible items under the second amendment sales tax holiday will be exempt from the state’s 7 percent sales tax.
