Mississippi school districts allowed hybrid scheduling to minimize COVID spread

The Mississippi State Board of Education voted today to allow school districts to use hybrid scheduling if needed to minimize the current spread of COVID.

The hybrid scheduling option is available from today and will extend through March 11th.

Hybrid scheduling can only be used to mitigate the spread of COVID through schools.

The state board of education based its decision on COVID infection data from the Mississippi State Department of Health.

The board may consider extending the option past March 11th if data shows it is needed.

Under the board of education’s policies, districts that offer a virtual option for individual students must adopt policies that outline requirements for equipment, connectivity, attendance, and student conduct to participate in class.

To assist with virtual learning, the legislature provided $200 million to provide every public school student with a computer device to learn.
