Mississippi River Basin Fishery Commission Act of 2025

Representative Mike Ezell teamed up with a Louisiana representative to establish the Mississippi River Basin Fishery Commission.

What the commission would do is:

• Establish the Mississippi River Basin Fishery Commission as a federally funded entity
• Provide grants and resources
• Strengthen partnerships between agencies for fishery management
• Support commercial and recreational fishing industries

This is an initiative aimed at protecting and enhancing the waterways of the Mississippi River.

In total, the Mississippi River Basin spans 31 states with the act ensuring health of fisheries, habitats, and economic livelihoods.

A commission will serve as a collaborative body that works with federal agencies, state governments, and local stakeholders to take on any challenge.
