“Mississippi Queens” semi-pro basketball team set to begin play in summer 2025

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) – The Mississippi Queens is a semi-professional women’s basketball team looking to take the court by storm. With a 15-player roster in the works, the team is gearing up to play in July.  Athletic Director and Coach Ted Williams says fans and supporters of women’s sports can look forward to an exciting new way to experience basketball in the state of Mississippi.

Mississippi is filled with athletic talent, with several high school players recruited to D1 programs every year.  Women’s basketball has gained a tremendous amount of popularity this past year, and Coach Williams is determined to bring that same energy and excitement to Mississippi through the Mississippi Queens.

The Mississippi Queens organization is committed to build support and generate the momentum needed to put Mississippi on the map in the world of women’s basketball.
