Mississippi Public Broadcasting braces for program cuts as federal funding for NPR and PBS is eliminated

JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV) – The Rescissions Act of 2025 will eliminate $1.1 billion in previously approved federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports PBS, NPR, and over 1,500 local public stations across the US.

For Mississippi Public Broadcasting, the station depends heavily on CPB funding to cover affiliation fees that allow continued access to national programming from NPR and PBS.

WXXV News 25’s Jordyn Lassiter meets with Mississippi Public Broadcasting to understand how these budget cuts will affect public media in Mississippi.
