Mississippi Power update on tornado in Moss Point

Mississippi Power

Mississippi Power has released an update regarding the tornado that impacted Moss Point earlier today.

In the update, Mississippi Power says as of 9:00 p.m., just over 1,000 customers are without service in Moss Point and Pascagoula as a result of this afternoon’s tornado.

Due to the extensive tornado damage, debris, downed trees, flooding and limited access to roads, residents without service should prepare for an estimated restoration time not to be available until tomorrow.

Crews will work throughout the evening trimming trees, clearing debris and setting new poles to restore power.

More storm resources are being added to the effort.

As soon as an estimated restoration time is available, customers can reference the company’s outage map for the most current restoration time.
