Mississippi Power steps up to help employee’s family, friends in Rolling Fork

When Mississippi Power learned an employee had family in Rolling Fork in need of help, they did not hesitate to lend a hand.

Mississippi Power lineman Chris Boston, a native of Rolling Fork, works in the Bay St. Louis office.

When tornadoes ripped through his hometown on March 24, Boston’s mom and aunt were among those affected.

Mississippi Power stepped up this week to help the Boston family and others in the town.

Employees collected enough supplies in 48 hours to fill an 18-wheeler to deliver to the collection center in town.

In addition, Mississippi Power made a donation to the United Way to help Rolling Fork — and it was matched by the Southern Company.

“This is my hometown. I grew up here on this street,” Boston said from Rolling Fork. “That’s my mom and my aunt’s home that you see in the background. Thankfully, they survived, but so many others lost their lives, lost everything in this community.

“I just want to thank Mississippi Power, the Southern Company, all of my friends and colleagues for your thoughts and prayers and donations and volunteering their time to come up and help these people in need. All of that will give them hope to rebuild for the future.”
