Mississippi Power rate increase hearings
Hearings begin next week to set final rates for a $7.5 billion Mississippi Power plant.
The Mississippi Public Service Commission says it won’t immediately impose a ruling concerning the Kemper County Plant if the issue isn’t settled at the hearing.
They might adopt a settlement proposed by Mississippi Power otherwise the commissioners say they’ll restart a separate rate-making process.
Commissioners said in June that customers shouldn’t pay for part of the plant meant to gasify goal and remove pollutants.
Around $150 million is disputed and Atlanta based unit of Southern Company refuses to incur further losses.
