Mississippi Power preparing for severe weather

With the threat of severe weather tonight, Mississippi Power is prepared to make sure the lights stay on.

Their crews along with contractors were hard at work earlier to make sure all of their equipment was ready to handle anything Mother Nature will throw at them tonight.

Mississippi Power also has partners including Alabama Power and Georgia Power in case extra help is necessary.

If you lose power, there is a way for you to keep track of outages. Mississippi Power Coast Division Manager Mark Loughman said, “We recommend that they download our app at OutageMap.MSPower.com. There they can see the outages in real time, they can get an idea of what the estimated restoration time is, they can notify us that their power is out and they need some help.”

If you lose power tonight, the site to report and track outages is outagemap.mississippipower.com. Mississippi Power also recommends that you charge your cell phone before tonight’s severe weather.
