Mississippi Power hosts emergency management directors meeting

Mississippi Power gathered with emergency management directors from across Southeast Mississippi to discuss the plans for the upcoming hurricane season.

With hurricane season running from June 1st through November 30th, Mississippi Power and all the EMA directors wanted to make sure all plans are fine tuned before the season gets active.

The partners were able to get familiar with one another and share ideas on the best way to prepare for the 2022 season. Mississippi Power Northern Division Manager Michael Harvey said, “When we have a severe weather event and we have customers that are out, safety is our primary focus. We want to get the lights on as quickly as possible, but safety is our number one priority.”

Gerry Burns with Forrest County Emergency Management said, “It’s an important time where we get to see how Mississippi Power is preparing for the hurricane season, we get to share our ideas on what we would do and emergency management and working very closing with one of our major partners.”
