Mississippi Power helps restore power in Georgia

Mississippi Power sent a storm restoration crew of nearly 100 employees to Macon and Valdosta to assist Georgia Power in power restoration efforts from the impact of Hurricane Irma.
The storm team is made up of line crews, engineers, logistics, fleet, security, and safety personnel.
The storm packed a punch when it passed through Macon as a tropical storm on Monday afternoon, bringing heavy rain and sustained winds of 40 MPH with gusts of 60 MPH. Gareth Clary with Mississippi Power said, “We had a team from Meridian, a team from Hattiesburg, and a team from Gulfport on the Coast. The guys are always eager to get out and go help because a lot of people came and helped us when we needed them.”
Mississippi Power’s storm crew has been receiving messages of appreciation in person and by social media for their efforts to restore power in many small Georgia towns.
