Mississippi Power donates cold weather supplies

Mississippi Power is partnering with local organizations to meet community needs as a result of extended freezing temperatures.

Mississippi Power is providing highly requested items such as blankets, winter coats, and pipe coverings to local non-profits who are supporting the community.

Mississippi Power employees are also donating to the effort and working with agencies to distribute the items along the Coast, the Pine Belt, and Meridian. Mississippi Power Spokeswoman Kaila Moran Griffith said, “We have another round of freezing temperatures coming in this weekend. We wanted to partner with organizations like the Red Cross who we know are actively serving our communities. Talking with the Red Cross, we learned that they were receiving requests for blankets and pipe coverings. We were able to get with our employees and provide some comfort in the cold, we got some supplies together.”

Red Cross Philanthropy Officer Emily Sham said, “We are so appreciative of their giving and their support for the community. These items will be in such great hands with the Red Cross. We will be donating these items to the local VA hospital.”

If you would like to help provide comfort in the cold, reach out to your local Red Cross chapter or Edward Street Fellowship in Hattiesburg.
