Mississippi police officer sued for alleged sexual assault
ABERDEEN, Miss. – A Mississippi woman allegedly sexually assaulted by an on-duty policeman is suing the former officer, the police chief and a north Mississippi city for unspecified damages.
The woman alleges a former Booneville officer drove her to a warehouse parking lot and sexually assaulted her while on duty in August 2020.
The lawsuit also claims the city knew the officer was stealing money and drugs from citizens he encountered while on duty. The FBI initiated a civil rights investigation of the officer prior to the incident.
But the lawsuit says he wasn’t suspended or terminated by the City of Booneville.
