Mississippi native Holly Brand advances past The Voice knockout rounds

A little yodel and a whistle note made the judges on The Voice take note and put their support behind Mississippi’s Holly Brand last night.

The Meridian native put her own spin on Patsy Cline’s ‘Blue Moon of Kentucky’ that blew the judges away and propelled Brand into the next round of the singing competition.

A member of Kelly Clarkson’s team, Brand used a yodel in the song and finished with what judges called a whistle note, the highest note on the register.

Brand beat out Rachel Christine, who sang Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rhiannon.’ She was stolen by Blake Shelton.
