Mississippi Matrix U16 Volleyball Team clinches spot in national tournament

ORLANDO, Fla. (WXXV) — The Mississippi Matrix U16 travel volleyball team made a name for itself in the Sunshine State.

The team traveled to Orlando to compete in the Sunshine Classic USAV National Qualifier and brought home gold. Mississippi Matrix went a perfect 10-0 in the American division and secured a spot in this summer’s National Championship Tournament.

Team members include Peyton Laney, Alden St. Amant, Leilani Williams, Laura Lynn Williams, Jordan Butcher, Baylor Edmiston, Betsy Byrd, Jazz Johnson and Taylor Douglas.

The team is led by head coach Jesse Rechtien and assistant coach Morgan Rechtien.
